
I would consider myself a thrower both by nature and temperament, too impatient to slip cast and too demanding of a 'perfect' surfaces to hand build.
The spontinaiaty of throwing instantly attracted me; its challenge - to control that spining clay rather than be controled - kept me coming back. I would have to say I was not a natural, it was a struggle for me to learn (12 years later and I'm still learning) but pure stubernes kept me going.
I would add to all would be potters:

When I touched clay for the first time in 1995 little did I realise how much it would effect and change my life. I was at art college with the somewhat nebulous idea of becoming a photographer. After trwenty years working in catering as chef and most other things I had been forced through ill health to re-think my life. Photography seemed like a possibility of sorts, I was short of choices at the time. Serendipity allowed me to take home some clay - Oh that happy day - and the rest, as they say, is history.
